CHICKEN IN A BAG
1 whole chicken
Peel and cut onion in half. Cut the lemon or orange
in quarters. Put the onion and fruit inside the
chicken cavity (you've removed the guts, of course).
Rub rosemary on the outside of the chicken. Not too
much! Place the chicken in a paper bag WITHOUT ANY
INK and put the bag on a rack inside a glass baking
dish. Bake 40 minutes at 450 degrees and 1 more hour
at 350. You can place slided potatoes and cut-up
squash inside the bag during the last hour.
Bon appetit!

I crazily pick up them all the time.
To be continued!
Chicken Scratches No. 1
September 14, 2007
Never leave your chickens loose and unattended for more than twenty minutes at a time. Do you know why? Chickens like DUST BATHES. They made a large spa in the garden on wednesday this week after laying seven eggs. The chickens probably felt they deserved it.
YIKES SAYS
Shoes are nice. They are so pretty I just want to eat them! Me and Amri play a game where I sneak up behind her and bite her on the bottom. She always jumps and, saying "you are SO rude!" trys to get her dress over my head! It's very funny. I must also add that Amri gets strange ideas. She wants to take pictures of Them with dolls on Their backs. Weird.

MOUSE THE RACING CHICKEN
We have had ambitions since before we had our chickens and now our racing dream is becoming a definite possibility for the near future as we see Mouse run away from us. We are hoping to get one of the Mathias family`s chickens in the race because as I put it, slugs are faster than Mr.Cheeseball.
Another ambition is chickens pulling carts. We have tried styrofoam seedling containers but chickens don`t understand. If you find a place that makes chicken carts, TELL US!!!
THE THUNDERBIRD CONNECTION
Some of you may know of our family's interest - okay, obsession - with the
1960s TV series, THUNDERBIRDS, acted by marionnettes. We have been trying to
decide which is better: Virgil's (Thunderbird 2's pilot) frown or Snowneck's
grumble. We're also attempting to train six of our chickens (which
six?) to be the "pods" that slide along the conveyor belt in International
Rescue's hidden base, with one pod ultimately being chosen to be the "tummy"
of the rocket-plane, Thunderbird 2, and providing necessary equipment for
the rescues. This is for Halloween. We have the Mathias' Australian shepherd,
Drake, as Thunderbird 2. Not sure if we can get the chickens/pods to walk
with Drake, seeing as half of them are terrified of Drake! (poor Snowneck!)
